Senso
For safeguarding leaders

Built around what a child safety lead actually needs

Senso gives Designated Safeguarding Leads detection they can trust, evidence they can act on, triage workflows that reduce workload, and optional 24/7/365 human support, without requiring IT involvement for day-to-day safeguarding review.

The safeguarding workflow

From detection to escalation, how Senso supports every stage

Whether you are a child safety lead in the UK, a student counsellor or student services lead in the US, or a child safety lead in Australia, this is how Senso changes your working day.

01

Detection, keyword and keyphrase monitoring

Senso monitors managed student devices continuously for keyphrases associated with safeguarding risk, including self-harm, radicalisation, abuse, exploitation and more. Keyphrase libraries are developed by in-house safeguarding language specialists and updated regularly as young people's vocabulary evolves. Senso also captures text typed but not submitted, language deleted before a search is run or a message is sent, because the most revealing signals are often the ones a student decides not to share.

02

Context, visual evidence at point of concern

When a detection occurs, Senso captures a screenshot of the student's screen at that moment. Reviewers see not just that a concerning keyphrase appeared, but what was on the screen, the full context of the activity. AI-assisted image analysis adds a further layer for visual content. Microsoft Teams message monitoring is also included, so device activity and Teams conversations are reviewed together rather than in separate systems.

03

Triage, severity levels and false-positive management

Detections are categorised by severity so that higher-risk alerts surface first. Reviewers can mark events as false positives, add notes and dismiss low-risk alerts within the triage interface, reducing the volume that reaches formal review. For schools that need additional capacity, Senso Assisted Monitoring Services provides a human review layer before any alert reaches the safeguarding team, so DSLs receive pre-triaged escalations rather than a raw notification feed.

04

Investigation, full case view and history

When a concern warrants investigation, Senso presents a complete case view for that student, including all detections, timestamps, screenshots and context in one place. Reviewers can see historical activity, review patterns over time and cross-reference Teams messages with device events. The goal is to give the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), or student counsellor, student services lead or child safety lead depending on region, a complete picture before deciding how to respond.

05

Recording, concern reporting and documentation

Senso supports the formal documentation of concerns within the platform. Safeguarding events are timestamped and evidence-preserved automatically. When a concern needs to be recorded formally, whether as an internal note, a concern report or a record for potential escalation; the evidence is already captured, structured and ready. Nothing needs to be reconstructed after the fact.

06

Escalation, workflow to senior staff or external agencies

When a concern requires escalation, to a deputy DSL, headteacher, social services or police, Senso's audit trail provides the structured evidence record required for external referral. Events, screenshots and case history are preserved in a format that supports formal reporting. In a trust, escalation paths can be configured to route concerns to trust-level safeguarding leads while school DSLs retain visibility of their own school's cases.

Optional: Assisted Monitoring, human moderation at scale

Senso Assisted Monitoring Services provides an optional managed layer where Senso's own moderation team reviews detections before they reach the school safeguarding team. Operatives are trained in safeguarding context and operate 24/7/365, including evenings, weekends and school holidays when device activity continues but school staff are unavailable. Schools receive escalated, pre-assessed concerns rather than raw system alerts.

What Senso gives a child safety lead

Detection, evidence, workflow

  • Keyword and keyphrase detection across managed devices
  • Capture of typed-but-not-submitted text, language deleted before a search is run
  • Visual screenshot evidence with each detection
  • AI-assisted image analysis for visual content
  • Microsoft Teams message and image monitoring
  • Triage workflow, review, assign and escalate within Senso
  • Audit trail, every event timestamped and evidence-preserved
  • False-positive management at the triage level
  • Optional Assisted Monitoring Services, 24/7/365 human review

How it reduces child safety lead workload

Less triage. More time for the students who need you.

Safeguarding monitoring without triage support generates significant workload; safeguarding leads reviewing every raw alert, including false positives, before reaching genuine concerns.

Senso's triage workflow and optional Assisted Monitoring Services mean thatchild safety leads receive contextualised, pre-assessed information, not a notification feed. The goal is less time triaging systems and more time supporting students.

Common child safety lead challenges

How Senso addresses what safeguarding leads tell us matters most

Alert volume

Senso Assisted Monitoring Services adds a human review layer before any alert reaches your team. You receive pre-triaged escalations, not raw system notifications.

Evidence gaps

Senso captures keyphrase context, typed-but-not-submitted text and visual screenshot evidence, so when you review a concern, you have the full picture, not just an alert that something happened.

After-hours coverage

Student device activity continues outside school hours. Assisted Monitoring Services operates 24/7/365, covering evenings, weekends and holiday periods.

Teams and device monitoring in silos

Senso brings device monitoring and Microsoft Teams monitoring into one interface, so a DSL reviewing a student's concern sees both their device activity and their Teams messages together.

Audit and evidence for escalation

Every safeguarding event in Senso is timestamped, logged and preserved with its evidence. When a concern needs to be escalated to leadership or external agencies, the audit trail is already there.

Multi-school DSL coordination

In a trust, each school DSL sees only their school. Trust safeguarding leads can see across all schools. Access boundaries are enforced at the data level.

Language expertise

Detection built on safeguarding language expertise, not generic keywords

Senso's keyphrase libraries are developed and maintained by in-house safeguarding language specialists. Young people's language around harm, crisis and concerning behaviour evolves quickly, and often uses coded, informal or context-dependent vocabulary that generic keyword matching misses.

This linguistic expertise means Senso's detection is calibrated to the way young people actually communicate, not just the surface-level words associated with risk.
