Back in 2001, while working in schools, our Founder, Jon Valentine, noticed something was missing: technology that not only managed networks but also gave teachers the freedom to focus on teaching—and the tools to identify and address issues like bullying.
His solution was ground-breaking: the first-ever safeguarding software, designed to capture screenshots and raise alerts when problems arose. What began as a simple idea quickly became a global movement, adopted in over 80 countries and, by 2015, trusted by nearly half of all UK secondary schools.
Redefining Network and Classroom Management
That same year, after leading Impero Software through its most successful period—with customer renewal rates close to 100%—Jon decided it was the right time to hand the company to new owners.
But just months later, encouraged by former colleagues, resellers, and customers, he felt the spark to innovate once more. The result was Senso.cloud — a bold, cloud-powered reimagining of network and classroom management, built to be stronger, smarter, and ready for the future.
From Garage to Global
When Jon set out to build Senso, he wasn’t alone.
The team he initially brought onboard had years of experience and a deep understanding of what schools truly need. From humble beginnings in a garage, Senso has grown from a three-person team into thriving operations across the UK, America, and Australia. At its heart are close-knit teams who live and breathe our mission. Behind every innovative feature is a dedicated group of people working tirelessly to make a difference, united by one clear goal: to protect every child and young adult in education.
